    Seeking drummers to test BeatMirror

UPDATE (June 7th, 2017): The current Beta testing period is now complete. Sign-up will be open again for future Beta versions, so keep an eye on this space or follow us on Twitter or Facebook for more info.

If you play drums, you’re probably well-acquainted with our friend, the metronome. As musicians, a metronome helps us keep the beat, hone our rhythmic skills, and listen while we play… all really important things.

But a metronome has its limits: what happens when we turn it off? Can we still keep the beat? Improving rhythm and timing is something that I’ve definitely wrestled with, especially in band settings, and so I decided to make something to help: BeatMirror.

BeatMirror is our soon-to-be released app for iPhone and iPad that detects tempo while you play. Pick a target tempo, start playing, and the app will display your tempo in real-time. Play in 4/4, 6/8, swing—whatever you like—and BeatMirror will give you feedback. Here’s a sample video from our early testing:

But this is just the first step. What’s going to take BeatMirror to the next level is your feedback. So, if you’re a drummer with an iPhone or iPad and would like to help us test the app, we’ve got some good news. The Beta program is now open!
