    Announcing: Waay

Time for the big news. This has been months and months in the making… Years, if you consider all the work developing a curriculum and an effective way to do something we care so much about. What am I talking about? Music theory. And not just the theory you use to write exams or whatever. I’m talking about the stuff that matters: music theory for writing music.

Here’s the problem: music theory lessons can be so boring and irrelevant. I’ve had players tell me “Oh, I learned theory because I had to. But I never think about it when I play.” That blows my mind. After heart, music theory is one of the most valuable tools for writing music—and I’m talking about rock, folk, pop, whatever style you can dream up. It can make you:

    • a better player,
    • a better listener,
    • and above all a waay better songwriter (see what I did there?).

With our newest app, we wanted to approach theory with all the excitement and practical application it deserves. And so, we’re very happy to announce our brand new app: Waay: gamified learning for musicians. It’s an iPad app that blends short, easy-to-grasp animated videos with challenging gamified exercises. It builds strong music theory foundations, focussed on helping you write music. This is theory for musicians. If you can play a few songs on guitar or piano, but want to take that next step into songwriting, this is for you.

Waay’s coming soon, so be a part of our mailing list if you want to join us for the ride! In the meantime, you can find out more here. UPDATE: Waay is now available on the App Store! Click the link below to get started.
