    Say Hello to WaayFinder

One of the most popular pages here on tenkettles.com is KeyFinder. It’s a simple tool: you give it some notes, it gives you the keys that match. Recently we got to thinking: what if we took this tool to the next level?

    Enter WaayFinder.

WaayFinder is an app to support your songwriting. Say you’ve got a few notes, maybe a melody idea you came up with. You want to figure out the key they’re in, so you can find chords to match, write another song section, or even add harmonies.

Plug your notes into WaayFinder and all the matching keys and modes will be displayed—top match comes first.

    But that’s not all:

    • Filter results. You can view any combination of major (Ionian), natural minor (Aeolian), harmonic minor, Dorian, Phrygian, Lydian, Mixolydian, and Locrian.
    • Tap-to-listen. Want to hear a scale? Just tap the title. How about a few notes? You can tap to hear those too.
    • Scale look-up. Quickly find the notes in any scale. D♭ Dorian? No problem. C Harmonic Minor. Easy. Every major scale. Yup, WaayFinder can do that too.
    • Enharmonic mode. Your melody has a A♭… or is it a G♯? Without the key, you really don’t know. With enharmonic mode, that’s no problem: WaayFinder will find keys that match either note name.
    • Tutorial. With all that’s going on in WaayFinder, it can be handy to have a walk-through take you through all the options. Tap the help button anytime.

And just like with all Ten Kettles’ apps, there are no ads and no sneaky data collection. Just honest music education. Ready to get started?
